Big Frank is back in the land of the swinging doors and the home of the box stores. He was a little bit afraid of the rumors he had heard of the late winter snow and the pre-spring dip in temperatures. However, when he emerged from bed this morning he saw the resident marmots emerging from their dens. Now this is a sure sign of spring! Yes! The snow will go, and (alas) the yard will have to be taken care of. These marmots enjoy eating Big Frank's weeds but that is a pretty poor excuse for not putting in proper backyard. So . . . the finalization of the conceptualization of the plans for Big Frank's backyard have now begun. Stay tuned for the playing out of the project. It will entail moving earth for a backyard terrace of slate or stone, the planting of more trees, and the putting in (yai do hoi!) of a prairie-like lawn (buffalo grass, wild flowers, and various other native grasses). The marmots are going to love that!
